The eService system is designed to provide a common platform and generic tools for online transactional services. Ethiopian Management Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with Crown Agents of, Great Britain.

This was disclosed when Ethiopian Management Institute and Crown Agents - UK based international development company - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to explore areas of cooperation in human resource development.

The agreement is also tipped to promote ties between the two countries in the area of public sector management development.

EMI Director General Mengistu Yitbarek, stated his belief that the partnership that was striked by the two institutions will give EMI new competitive advantage, and introduce best practices into Ethiopia's public service system. He added that as a pioneer management development center in the country that has done a lot in enhancing the managerial capacity of Ethiopia's civil service, the Institute has to equip itself with new competencies and capabilities through partnerships with international organizations.

Further, he mentioned that the dynamic change of the national and global governance environment demands new intervention and approaches. This is why it is essential to work along with Crown Agents, a company that shares common objectives with us and has an experience of working with different national cultures, Mengistu opined.

 Background of the Institute


Ethiopian Management Institute established bearing an intention of capacity building of the public, private and non-governmental organizations through effective and result oriented provision of training, research and consultancy service. Since its establishment, Ethiopian Management Institute has been working a lot in employing the necessary professionals with diverse professional skill.

Ethiopian Management Institute is one of the foremost learning institutions with significant contributions in the country's management development by building the capacity of development agents through research, consultancy, and training interventions in various management fields since its establishment in 1950s. The Institute is presently exercising its full potential than ever before so as to meet its missions and is definitely in a rapid transformation. EMI now organized the 6th annual national conference on public service reform under the major theme of public Sector transformation for sustainable development in Ethiopia. The conference highlights governance, reform and service delivery in the public sector. A core argument is public sector transformation is crucial for the effectiveness and efficiency of the public service delivery. Nine research papers are selected for this conference; among these eight research papers are carried out by EMI staff members. The diversity of the papers presented will enable participants share ideas of the respective organizational practices.

                    Ethiopian Management Institute Undertake its First ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit

ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit is “Systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining audit evidence and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which audit criteria are fulfilled.”dsc_0161
This Internal audits, sometimes called first-party audits, are conducted by the Ethiopian Management Institute as per the initiatives comes from ESA(Ethiopian Standards Agency) for management review and other internal purposes, and may form the basis for an organization’s declaration of conformity.  This Audit is mainly important for the preparation of External audit that include generally termed second- and third-party audits. Second-party audits are conducted by parties having an interest in the organization, such as customers, or by other persons on their behalf. Third-party audits are conducted by external, independent auditing organizations, such as those providing certification/ registration of conformity to ISO 9001.

በሚል ርዕስ የፓናል ውይይት አካሄደ

የኢትዮጵያ ሥራ አመራር ኢንስቲትዩት ‹‹ ውጤታማ የጊዜ አጠቃቀም ለላቀ የህዝብ አገልግሎት ስኬት›› የፐብሊክ ሰርቪስ ተቋማት የጊዜ አጠቃቀምና የአመራር ሁኔታ ምን ይመስላል? በሚል ርዕስ በኢንስቲትዩቱ ባለሙያዎች በተጠናው ጥናት ላይ የፌደራልና የአዲስ አበባ የፐብሊክ ሰርቪስ አመራሮች በተገኙበት መስከረም 28/2011 . ዎርክሾፕ አካሄደ፡ጥናቱ እንዳመላከተው በአገራችን በፐብሊክ ሰርቢስ 1.5 ሚልዮን ሰራተኞች እንደሚኖሩ የሚገመት ሲሆን ከስም የስራ ሰዓት አምስት ሰዓት ብቻ ለመንግስት ሥራ እንደሚውልና ቀሪው ሦስት ሰዓት እንደሚባክንና ይህ ደግሞ 500 ሠራተኞች ያለ ሥራ ደመዎዝ እንደሚከፋለቸው ወይም ደግሞ በዓመት ሥድስት ቢልዮን ብር ያለ ሥራ ክፍያ እንደሚፈጸም ነው፡፡በፐብሊክ ሰርቪስ ተቋማት ሥራዎች በተያዘላቸው ጊዜ ያለማጠናቀቅ፣ የመልካም አስተዳደር እጦትና ለፋይናንስ ኪሳራ መዳረግ በዋናነት በጊዜ አጠቃቀም ችግር የሚከሰቱ በመሆናቸው ጥናቱ ማካሄድ አስፈላጊ ካደረጉት ምክንያቶች ናቸው፡፡


ISO 19011:2011 Training on Qulaity Management Auditing for Ethiopian Management Institute Staff

Implementing a quality management system will help EMI:

Assess the overall context of the institution to define who is affected by its work and what they expect from EMI. This will enable to clearly state the objectives and identify new business opportunities.

Put the customers first, making sure EMI consistently meet customers’ needs and exceed their expectations. This can lead to repeat custom, new clients and increased business for the organization.

Work in a more efficient way as all the processes will be aligned and understood by everyone in the organization. This increases productivity and efficiency, bringing internal costs down.

Identify and address the risks associated with the Institute.

The training on ISO 19011:2011 provides guidance on auditing management systems, including the principles of auditing, managing an audit programme and conducting management system audits, as well as guidance on the evaluation of competence of individuals involved in the audit process, including the person managing the audit programme, auditors and audit teams.
